WE, my wife and I are teachers. Our home was built in the 60's, the original owners expanded it in the 80's with a second floor. The kitchen is original, but we replaced the refrigerator that had a problem with periodic leaking and a leaking dishwasher. The oven caught fire which required pulling out the cabinet and part of the floor to remove it (that was fun?!. Part of the parquet floor (over asbestos tile has buckled from the leaking appliaces and needs replacement. Popcorn paint decorates the ceiling and needs to go away. The physical arrangement of the room is awkward, rather small and the kitchen table is on one side of the room with a doorway to the basement and a sliding door outside.

Simple shapes and strong lines. Fine craftsmanship mixes with natural materials. Arts & Crafts, Mission, and Shaker styles work for me.
